WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?
MVO Nederland is working on realising the New Economy. In it, companies will not just be driven by financial goals but also by those values that benefit both people and the environment. Although many companies are already doing business in the New Economy, major steps still have to be taken if we are to realise our ambition.
Working on the New Economy means looking at all aspects of the impact that businesses have on society. This is why we do more than just focus on climate-related issues or on one particular solution. Instead, the power lies in ‘joining the dots’ and connecting them all up. This is why we have set out four important issues to focus on.
1. CLIMATE-NEUTRAL BUSINESS
Doing business in an economy in which companies do not adversely affect the climate.
2. THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Doing business in an economy without waste and with a major focus on re-using and recycling.
3. INCLUSIVE BUSINESSES
Doing business in an economy where every talent counts and contributes, irrespective of any limitations.
4. FAIR SUPPLY CHAINS
Doing business in an economy that creates added value for both people and the environment, and one where human rights and good working conditions are the norm. Internationally, we endeavour to have high-impact trading relationships between companies in the Netherlands and those in low and middle income countries.
